Graduate student Margarita Marinova solves major problem of Mars with her PhD Dissertation.

AND IT'S SO COOOL.

My Extreme Geology fix for the week is now satisfied.

Note: One thing they didn't explain clearly is that the Tharsis volcanic region added a huge pile of gunk to the side of Mars at a later time, concealing the boundary of the impact crater in that region.

Since this theory was proposed, scientists have realized that it explains Mars' crazy magnetic field, which only exists in the southern hemipshere. The lack of magnetic field left it open to solar radiation which slowly depleted its oceans and atmosphere (and it didn't help that all the water flowed north, downhill.)

I knew I was dinking around online looking for something to write about! I'll put in the impact that made the moon as well.

(In other news, eye doctor appointment monday.)
