in honor of James Doohan, a star that I was really terribly fond of, as a wee mump. When we played Trek dress-up, Mom was Spock, but I was Scotty. He was my favorite from the old series back when I was watching reruns constantly, though in later years I embarked on Nichelle Nichols worship.
Ah well, they're sending his ashes into space, and he had a great run (apart from being typecast), and he was loved by millions, and he did a lot of charity work and was as far as I could see quite happy about all of the above. So we'll miss him but won't grieve too much.

(and yes, I heard the news yesterday, but I was driving back from Pacifica in LA rush hour traffic, and keeled over into bed when I got in.)
