Went to 50th Anniversary Who showing at theater

I think the best bit about watching the 50th anniversary special in the theater was looking around and seeing all these kids who weren't born when my Doctors were on the air.

I remember the day a friend came into the dining hall in college to tell us that Doctor Who was cancelled. "But they can't!" we said. "They just can't!"

They couldn't!

Also a delight seeing it start with the opening sequence of the first-ever episode redone in color and 3D. (Not to mention the original opening credits.) And of course the cameo(s).

I suppose I should really sit down and catch up on the new series, with their manpain, "sexed up" companion-Doctor ships and all. I'm so out of touch; I hadn't seen Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's daughter, and she's great.

I was sort of the inverse "Oh! I should watch all the old ones CAUSE THERE ARE REFERENCES"
(I also had to have some of the more recent references explained as I haven't seen at least two seasons. And have trouble telling to two latest apart if I don't see them side by side).

Heh, I thought I was the only one with that problem. (Telling them apart)

A lot of the old ones are so campy, but I love them. And yet the acting is still good.

I remember watching the Who movie with the bloke now known as Eight, and my complaint was, "Wait, the special effects are good, and the acting is mediocre: THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF DOCTOR WHO!"

Nope! I think the fact that they both act similar doesn't help either.

I haven't seen that movie; I borrowed part of one of the old series from the library, but have no idea where it fell (you can't really just jump in!).
