Unusually blunt message from yours truly.

Run For The Hills... or not.

I've been guilty of bunker mentality this month-- overload of depressing reality combined with health problems made me dive back into my coccoon.

HOWEVER.

Wringing hands and laying plans to move to Canada isn't going to help.

DO THIS.

1) Read this summary of the "U.S. Police State Act of 2003". It's quick. There's a link to the actual government document so you can verify for yourself.

2) Decide what you think about it. I'm not telling you what to think, because the facts speak for themselves.

3) Contact your elected officials.

I have only written an elected rep once in my entire life. But if we do not get the word out on this one-- no matter how cynical, jaded, or indifferent we are-- we may as well not call ourselves Americans at all. This is one time, even if you don't bother to vote, that you need to know what's going on, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Which at least means telling your government what to do.

4) Tell them what you think. Don't rant -- they'll ignore you. Be concise. Be coherent. Be firm but polite. Be proud to stand up for your rights and those of your family, children, neighbors, and friends. Be an American.

5) Send this message, or something like it, to Americans you know who just happen to care about their country.
