Rain in the Desert

Aaaaaahh. One of the most beautiful sounds in the world: a good, hard downpour. No thunder, but it's been over two years since it rained hard enough to get the sidewalk totally wet.

I've  flung open all the windows, even though it's a bit chilly (well, for a southern Californian with no cold tolerance), to hear every last plash. It may be another year or more before I hear real rain again outside my own home.

It reminds me of All Summer in a Day in reverse.
