And yet slightly gratifying.

Heromachine

Nevermind that it is a "superhero generator" so the only bodies are built in standard Superhero fashion -- at least they are not quite as extreme as what I've seen in comics stores in the last 10 years. The key is that dorks like me who can no longer draw worth crap can still give some idea what a character looks like, and those who cannot draw at all can give it a go. The free version has a fair number of options. I gather the paying version has many more.

But the most fun toy perhaps is the randomizer.

Two examples -- one my Mary Sue, the other...er... demonstrating why I enjoy Mad Libs so much.

The pay version has SOME more options but not nearly enough. As far as I know, the designer basically announced the 'ver 2 beta', took money for it, then produced like three or four new clothing bits over the next two years. In other words, it'll never be more than what it is right now.

Whoa, I haven't seen played with HeroMachine since 1.0. Much time-wasting to be had, oh yes.

It seems nigh impossible these days to get in touch with you, so I hope this reaches you. One part is just an annoyingly enthusiastic hello and the usual "I miss you!" The other: I'm attempting to start an Utena fanfiction community--[livejournal.com profile] utena_inscribed. I know your LoTR involvement is eating your fannish life--otherwise I would have seen you around MC--but given that you're the person who introduced me both to Utena and to the heights that fanfiction can reach, albeit in a different fandom, I couldn't not invite you.
