I'd say "amusing" save that I'm sure it's not the least bit amusing to those affected by the problem. However the punch line of this article shows they have not lost their sense of humor.

It happens. Lake Missoula (http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Glossary/Glaciers/IceSheets/description_lake_missoula.html) was a lot bigger and disappeared in a similar fashion.
