Revenge of the Stupid.
Jun. 18th, 2005 11:42 pmWell, I have now seen episode 6...er...III. (Don't worry, no spoilers).
The original movies proved that Good Conquers All.
These moves prove that Stupid Conquers Good.
I have spent most of the last two movies going, "don't be stupid! don't be stupid! AIGH, how can you be that STUPID?" during several scenes that purported to show character development. This rather spoiled my impression of some characters I wanted very much to like.
But the truth is, people can be incredibly stupid.
It's just rare to see the good guys displaying so much stupidity.
The movie did at least have one memorable line: a clumsy, heavy-handed, but well-intentioned poke at the Shrub Administration and lemming mentality.
As long as you start out with low expectations it's fairly enjoyable, much like Troy.
But I do miss the old movies. And I think Lucas should've kept cribbing plots from Joseph Campbell; he's better at using Betty Crocker recipes than cooking from scratch.
