Dead laptop resurrected, part one
Dec. 20th, 2005 01:44 amWell, that's an improvement. It has a new hard drive, and they put Tiger on it by accident! And it was covered under warranty.
So now i have widgets all over the big screen where there's room for them!
Two problems.
~ the keyboard's still feeble. Half the keys require repeated pokes to function.
~ why is half my RAM not showing up?
both are no doubt due to the same problem that led to the hard drive failure: laptops ought not to be tripped over.
But at least it WORKS now.
And I made a dippy LOTR desktop, with Elrond courtesy of the Theban Band, and a few custom icons I tweaked and photomanipped from stuff I found online.
Ta-da. I was having fun making an alternative to boring folder icons.
Theban Band rocks. With skilled photomanipulation, they can make Hugo Weaving actually look like an elf.
Okay, so this is so not what I should be doing right now, but when I'm really down playing with graphics cheers me up. And anyway, the first thing one must do when getting a clean desktop is to shed on it.
