Thanks for the new toy, mommy!
Feb. 4th, 2007 01:36 amI had a feeling this would happen.
For many years, I have wanted a chair.
That chair was my Nana's. She was 90 years older than me, but she lived until she was almost 102, so we had time to play together. She was always sitting in this chair. She used to rock me and sing to me.
Everyone loved the chair, because it reminded us of Nana, who was a very sweet lady (famously, the nastiest thing she ever said about anyone was, "He's a little bit peculiar"). My uncle eventually got it some years after she passed away. I was embarrassingly upset, because I WANTED that chair. But so did he. So what to do?
Well, he very kindly promised me the chair someday. And someday is now, because my cousins are getting big enough that he was afraid they'd damage it with horseplay.
The padding is a little squooshed, so I need to sit in it with a back pillow, but it's so... TINY! Just my size! I never realized it was made for a little person. My Nana was five feet just like me.
Of course, Samhain had to claim it IMMEDIATELY, but I had the foresight to use a blanket just in case. I need to find a better-looking cover for it, since it's easier than telling her she can't sit in it.
