Good grief. Mom and I were out Christmas shopping for Dad, and we found a glorious and terrible thing, Star Trek's illegitimate stepchild.

The animated series, voiced by all the original actors except for Walter Koenig, was directed by Gene Roddenberry, had D.C. Fontana as story editor, and lasted 2 years. The series was hampered by three things: half an hour to tell a story, bad American cel animation, and the fact that American TV execs think cartoon = kids' show.

They're very, very funny. Every now and then, there's one that's quite good. The rest are campy classic Trek bad, or just bad.

David Gerrold still thinks he's God's gift to the universe, and can't script write his way out of a Dixie Cup. His tribble sequel had an audio commentary which Mom and I listened to for about 1 minute before I hit the TV power button. He makes Harlan Ellison seem humble. (Cormac, do you want to be present when I inflict this on Lynn?)

The DVDs all have a generic Star Trek commercial proudly trumpeting that every film and every episode of every Trek show is now on DVD. They show clips of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and that godawful Enterprise. They do not hint at the existence of the animated series. Enterprise is far worse than TAS, but I suppose it at least avoided the error of giant pink tribbles.

I have something to strike fear of the Trek Franchise into you.

They're making another animated series. XD Set 500 years after Voyager or something like that.

It's...wow.

My dear, I would love to be present when you show this remarkable piece of garbage to Lynn. I'm not a big fan of camp, but I am a big fan of watching my friends as they cower in dread of camp.

That's one of the good ones, although it's a little too cute with the selaht. Then again, he DID say in the original show that it was like a giant fanged teddy bear.

It was nice seeing more Amanda and Sarek, despite the animators insisting on giving Amanda phenomenal cosmic hips.

I agree, though I bought the entire series for that one episode. I can't help it - I'm a Spock fan girl.

(*waves* Guess who!)

Walter's star

Did you know Walter Koenig is the only one of the original "Star Trek Seven" not to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? It's time for the fans to unite and help correct this ridiculous oversight!

Walter's been nominated for a star and the Walk of Fame Committee will be voting in June 2007 on whether to award it to him. A letter-writing campaign to convince the committee to vote for him has started, and you can help!

Walter's official website -- www.WalterKoenigSite.com -- has all the information. Here is the link to the "Star" page: www.walterkoenigsit e.com/waltersstar.html

Thank you for your help and support!
We have new banners and links for this campaign as waltersstar has raised all the money!

Have you written your letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce yet? Great! :)

Now we have a mission for you! Get 10 of your friends to write a letter too! (Have each of them get 10 of their friends...) This is how we got Trek renewed in the 60's!

The campaign has spread to Europe, but we need it spread everywhere... it's going to take thousands of letters! (The chamber is really stubborn!) Please spread the post to a few other forums if you belong to them.

And now we have flyers on the website! You can print them to post at the supermarket and work, leave in your doctor's waiting room...there are Trek fans everywhere! There are also versions to cut apart and bring to conventions.

We'll even mail them to you if you are going to a con--just let us know!!!
