Gaudy Night's Latin -- translations + meta

Whew. I tried writing this up as a post -- really, I did! -- but DW keeps eating spaces between words when I use blockquotes (indented paragraphs) or lists.

I'm very tired after staying up all night reading Gaudy Night. (That was predictable.)

 

Today, in a burst of drowsy nostalgia, I shook the rust off my classics brain and wrote up translations of Latin and Greek in Gaudy Night. I included some scatterbrained context and commentary as well.
 

I'm sure there's more than two Sayers fans on my flist, so, enjoy. 

(If anyone sees a typo, please, sing out; one should not try to write anything serious after an all-nighter unless you are an undergraduate.)

I'm pretty sure that, to add to the context and layering of that last bit, it's used in the Oxford graduation ceremony.
